Contractor Quickstart

For: Contractor | Tier: Starter / Standard / Pro

The company you're working with uses Tellus EHS to manage chemical safety at their facilities. As a contractor, you've been given access to view safety information and complete any required training for the sites where you'll be working.

Step 1: Accept Your Invitation

Check your email for an invitation from the company. Click the link to create your Tellus account (or connect to your existing one if you already use Tellus with another company). Set your password and log in.

Step 2: Log In and Review Your Site

After logging in, you'll see the site(s) you've been assigned to. Your view is limited to only the locations where you'll be working -- this is intentional, as it ensures you see the safety information that's relevant to your job.

Step 3: View the Chemical Inventory

Go to ChemIQ to see the hazardous chemicals present at your assigned site. For each chemical, you can view:

  • The product name and manufacturer
  • GHS hazard classifications and pictograms
  • Storage locations within the site
  • A link to the full Safety Data Sheet

Before starting work, review the chemicals in your work area so you know what hazards are present and what precautions to take.

Step 4: Access Safety Data Sheets

Open the SDS Library in ChemIQ to search for specific chemicals by name or CAS number. OSHA requires that every worker -- including contractors -- has access to SDSs for hazardous chemicals in their work area. Tellus gives you that access on any device.

Step 5: Complete Required Training

If the company has assigned safety training to you, go to SafePath and open My Training. Complete all assigned courses before the due dates. Training typically covers the specific chemical hazards at the site and the safety procedures you need to follow.

Important Notes

  • Your access is read-only. You can view the chemical inventory and Safety Data Sheets, but you cannot add or edit chemicals. If you find a chemical at the site that isn't in the inventory, notify the site manager.
  • Site-specific access. You'll only see data for the site(s) you've been assigned to. If you move to a different site, ask the site manager to update your assignment.
  • Multiple companies. If you work as a contractor for several companies that use Tellus, you can access all of them from a single account. Use the company selector in the header to switch between clients.
