Company Onboarding Wizard

For: Admin | Tier: Starter / Standard / Pro

When you create a new company on Tellus, the onboarding wizard guides you through nine steps to get your compliance program up and running. The whole process takes about 10-15 minutes, and you can always adjust your settings later in AdminHQ.

The 9 Onboarding Steps

1. Industry

Select the industry that best describes your business -- pest control, manufacturing, auto repair, agriculture, commercial cleaning, laboratories, or others. Then choose your company type (e.g., single-location business, multi-site operation, or EHS consultant).

Your industry selection helps Tellus recommend the right modules and tailor compliance features to your specific regulatory requirements.

2. Modules

Choose your subscription plan -- Starter, Standard, or Pro -- and review the modules included with your plan. You'll see which modules are enabled, optional, or available as upgrades. See Subscription Tiers for a full feature comparison.

3. Details

Enter your company information: business name, address, phone number, and website. This information appears in your compliance documents, including your Written HazCom Program and training certificates.

4. Coordinator

Assign your OSHA HazCom program coordinator. Under 29 CFR 1910.1200, every employer must designate a responsible person who oversees the hazard communication program. This is typically a safety manager, HR director, or operations lead.

The coordinator is responsible for maintaining the Written HazCom Program, ensuring SDS availability, and verifying that employees are trained. You can change the coordinator later in AdminHQ.

5. Roles (Optional)

Review the default roles that come with your plan -- Admin, Manager, Employee, Coordinator, and others. You can customize permissions for each role or skip this step and configure roles later.

6. Sites

Add your company facilities. Every company needs at least one site. A site is a physical workplace -- an office, warehouse, plant, store, or job site. If you have multiple locations, add them all here or come back later.

7. Locations (Optional)

Add specific areas within your sites, such as buildings, floors, storage rooms, or work areas. Locations help you track which chemicals are stored where and assign training to people in specific areas. You can skip this step and add locations later.

8. Team (Optional)

Invite team members by entering their email addresses and assigning roles. Each person receives an invitation email with a link to create their account. You can skip this step and invite people later from AdminHQ.

9. Finalize

Review all your settings -- company information, plan, sites, team members, and coordinator assignment. When everything looks right, click Complete Setup to finish onboarding.

After Onboarding

Once you complete the wizard, you'll land on your company dashboard. From here, you can:

  • Upload Safety Data Sheets to build your chemical inventory
  • Start creating your Written HazCom Program in Plan Builder
  • Invite more team members from AdminHQ
  • Set up training courses in SafePath

Everything you configured during onboarding can be changed at any time in AdminHQ. The wizard is just the fastest way to get started.
