Admin Quickstart

For: Admin | Tier: Starter / Standard / Pro

You've created your account and finished the onboarding wizard. Now what? This guide walks you through the five things every admin should do in their first 30 minutes to get real value from Tellus.

Step 1: Complete the Onboarding Wizard

If you haven't already, walk through the Company Onboarding Wizard. It sets up your company profile, assigns your HazCom program coordinator, and creates your first site. Everything else builds on this foundation.

Step 2: Add Your Sites and Locations

Go to AdminHQ and make sure your sites are set up correctly. Each site represents a physical workplace where your employees handle chemicals. Within each site, add locations like storage rooms, work areas, or buildings to organize your chemical inventory by area.

See Sites & Locations for details.

Step 3: Upload Your First Safety Data Sheets

Navigate to ChemIQ and upload a handful of Safety Data Sheets. You can drag and drop PDFs directly into the SDS Library, and Tellus will automatically parse the manufacturer, product name, hazard information, and CAS numbers from each document.

Start with five or ten SDSs for the chemicals your team uses most. Once they're parsed, your chemical inventory begins to take shape.

See SDS Library for details.

Step 4: Invite Your Program Coordinator

If you assigned a coordinator during onboarding, confirm they've accepted their invitation. If you skipped that step, go to AdminHQ and invite them now. Your program coordinator is required by OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200) and plays a central role in managing your compliance program.

See Users & Roles for details.

Step 5: Explore Your Dashboard

Take a few minutes to look around. Your dashboard in Insights shows your compliance posture at a glance -- SDS coverage, training completion, and overall readiness scores. Right now the numbers will be low because you're just getting started, but they'll improve as you build out your program.
