Compliance Center

For: Admin, Manager, Coordinator | Tier: Standard+

The Compliance Center is the first thing you see when you open Insights. It answers the most important question in your EHS program: "How compliant are we right now?"

A single readiness score summarizes your compliance posture across every module. Below it, module summary cards break down the score by area — chemicals, training, plans — so you can see exactly where you're strong and where gaps exist. An alert feed highlights everything that needs attention, ranked by urgency.

Readiness Score

The Readiness Bar displays your overall compliance as a percentage at the top of the Compliance Center. This score is calculated from four key factors:

FactorWhat It MeasuresWeight
SDS CoveragePercentage of chemicals in your inventory that have a current, non-expired SDS attachedHigh
Training CompletionPercentage of assigned training that is completed and not overdueHigh
Plan StatusWhether your Written HazCom Program is published, current, and not expiredMedium
Quantity ComplianceWhether any chemical quantities exceed regulatory thresholdsMedium

The score updates in real time. When an employee completes training, your score goes up. When an SDS expires, it goes down. The goal is 100% — but even maintaining a score above 85% puts you in a strong position for an OSHA inspection.

AI-Powered Scoring (Pro)

On Pro plans, the readiness score uses AI to weight factors based on your industry, chemical hazard profile, and historical compliance patterns. For example, if your inventory includes highly toxic chemicals with strict OSHA PELs, the AI will weight SDS coverage and training completion more heavily than it would for a company handling only mildly hazardous materials.

Module Summary Cards

Below the readiness score, you'll see summary cards for each active module:

Chemical Summary

  • Total chemicals in inventory
  • SDS coverage percentage
  • Number of chemicals missing an SDS
  • Number of expired SDSs
  • GHS hazard class breakdown

Training Summary

  • Total training assignments across all employees
  • Completion rate
  • Number of overdue assignments
  • Certifications expiring within 30 days

Plan Summary

  • Active HazCom plans count
  • Days since last plan approval
  • Plans with pending approval
  • Expired or stale plans requiring review

Each card shows a status indicator — green for healthy, yellow for needs attention, red for urgent action required. Click any card to drill into the full dashboard for that area.

Alert Feed

The alert feed is the action center of your Compliance Center. It lists every compliance issue that needs your attention, organized by severity:

Urgent Alerts (Red)

These require immediate action:

  • SDS documents that have expired
  • Training assignments past their due date
  • Chemical quantities exceeding regulatory thresholds
  • HazCom plans that have expired without renewal

Warning Alerts (Yellow)

These need attention soon:

  • SDSs expiring within 30 days
  • Training due dates approaching within 7 days
  • Certifications expiring within 30 days
  • Plans approaching their annual review date

Info Alerts (Blue)

Awareness items that don't require immediate action:

  • New chemicals added to inventory
  • Training assignments completed
  • Plans published or updated
  • Import jobs finished processing

Working with Alerts

Every alert is clickable. When you click an alert, Tellus takes you directly to the affected item — the specific chemical with an expired SDS, the specific employee with overdue training, or the specific plan that needs approval. From there, you can take action immediately without searching through your data.

Alerts clear automatically when the underlying issue is resolved. Attach a new SDS, and the "expired SDS" alert disappears. Complete overdue training, and the training alert is resolved.

Multi-Site View (Pro)

On Pro plans with multiple sites, the Compliance Center provides a roll-up view across all your locations. You can:

  • See the readiness score for each individual site
  • Compare compliance across sites side-by-side
  • Identify which sites are dragging down your overall score
  • Filter the alert feed by site to focus on one location at a time

This is especially useful for organizations with regional managers who are each responsible for their own site's compliance.
