Accept an Invitation
For: All users | Tier: All plans
When someone invites you to their company on Tellus, you receive an email with a link to join. What happens when you click the link depends on whether you already have a Tellus account.
Accepting Your Invitation
Open the invitation email from Tellus EHS and click the invitation link. Tellus automatically detects your situation and shows you the right experience.
New to Tellus
If you don't have a Tellus account yet, you'll see a signup form. Fill in your full name, phone number, and create a password (minimum 8 characters). After submitting, your account is created and you're immediately added to the company with the role your administrator assigned.
Already Have an Account and Are Logged In
If you're already logged into Tellus (for example, you use Tellus with another company), you'll see a streamlined acceptance screen. It shows the name of the company that invited you and a single Accept Invitation & Join [Company] button. Click it, and you're added to the company instantly — no forms, no re-entering your information.
Already Have an Account but Not Logged In
If you have a Tellus account but aren't currently logged in, you'll see a message asking you to sign in first. Click the Sign In button, enter your existing email and password, and you'll be redirected back to the invitation page where you can accept with one click.
After You Accept
Once accepted, you can see the company's data based on your assigned role. If this is your second (or third, or tenth) company, a company switcher dropdown appears in the header bar. You can use it to move between companies at any time — see Switching Between Companies for details.
Your Role and Access
Your administrator chose a role for you when they sent the invitation. This role determines what you can see and do:
| Role | What You Can Do |
|---|---|
| Employee | View chemicals at your site, access SDS documents, complete training |
| Manager | Manage inventory, approve imports, view reports at your sites |
| Trainer | Create courses, assign training, track completions |
| Contractor | View chemicals and complete training at your assigned sites only |
| Other roles | See Users & Roles for the full list |
If you think your role doesn't match your responsibilities, ask your company's Tellus administrator to update it.
Invitation Expired?
Invitation links are valid for 7 days. If your link has expired:
- Don't worry — your data hasn't been affected
- Ask your company's Tellus administrator to resend the invitation from AdminHQ > People > Pending Invites
- Check your email for the new invitation link
EHS Consultants and Multi-Company Users
If you're an EHS consultant, safety firm, or managed service provider, the multi-company invite flow is designed for you. Each client company can invite you using the same email address, and every invitation adds that company to your single Tellus account.
This means:
- One login to manage all your client companies
- Instant switching between clients using the company switcher in the header
- Separate roles in each company — you might be an Administrator in one and a Program Coordinator in another
- Complete data isolation — each company's chemicals, plans, training, and compliance data are kept entirely separate
You don't need to create separate accounts or juggle multiple passwords. Just accept each client's invitation, and their company appears in your company switcher.
Troubleshooting
- "Invitation not found" error — The link may have expired or been canceled by the administrator. Ask them to resend.
- Wrong email address — The invitation was sent to a specific email. If you're trying to use a different email, ask the administrator to send a new invitation to the correct address.
- Already accepted — If you click the link again after accepting, you'll see a message that the invitation has already been used. Just log in normally.
