AI-Powered Plan Generation
On Standard and Pro plans, the Plan Builder includes AI capabilities that transform the way you create your Written HazCom Program. Instead of writing everything yourself, the AI drafts consultant-grade content based on your actual company data, chemical inventory, and industry best practices.

What the AI Does
The AI assists at every stage of the plan-building process:

Auto-Setup Process
When you create an AI-Powered (Premium) plan, the system runs a multi-phase background setup before you reach the questionnaire:
- Gathers company profile -- Your company name, address, industry type, and size
- Loads site details -- Site name, address, employee count, and manager
- Pulls chemical inventory -- Product names, CAS numbers, hazard classifications, and quantities at the site
- Analyzes SDS coverage -- How many chemicals have current SDSs, which are missing
- Identifies hazard classes -- Which GHS hazard categories are present (flammable, corrosive, toxic, etc.)
- Generates dynamic questions -- Creates site-specific questions based on your chemical mix
- Pre-fills answers -- Populates questionnaire fields with suggested responses
You see an animated progress overlay during this process. When setup completes, you are automatically taken to the questionnaire with many fields already filled in.
AI Generation Panel
The AI Generation Panel appears on the left side of the plan editor for Premium plans. It provides:
Context Summary
A quick overview of the data the AI is using to generate your plan:
- Company name and site name
- Total chemical count
- SDS coverage percentage
- Hazard classes present
- Coordinator details
Click Show details to see additional context information including specific hazard class breakdowns and missing SDS counts.
Generate Plan Content
Click Generate Plan Content to have the AI draft all 7 sections of your plan at once. The AI uses:
- Your company profile and site information
- Your complete chemical inventory and SDS data
- Your questionnaire answers
- OSHA regulatory requirements
- Industry best practices
Generation runs in the background. A progress indicator shows the current status. When complete, the generated content appears in the editor for each section.
Per-Section Generation
If you prefer to work section by section, the panel lists all 7 sections with individual Generate buttons. This lets you:
- Generate content for a single section without affecting others
- Regenerate a specific section after updating your questionnaire answers
- See which sections have been generated (marked with a checkmark)
Confidence Scoring
Every AI-generated section includes a confidence score expressed as a percentage:

| 80%+ (green) | High confidence -- the AI had sufficient data to produce strong content |
| 50-79% (yellow) | Moderate confidence -- review carefully and consider adding more detail |
| Below 50% (red) | Low confidence -- the AI lacked sufficient data. Add more inventory data or questionnaire answers and regenerate |
If any section scores below 50%, a warning banner appears recommending that you add more data and regenerate.
AI Contribution Summary
The panel shows a summary of how much the AI has contributed to your plan:
- Answers AI-assisted -- How many questionnaire answers were suggested by the AI (out of total answers)
- Sections AI-generated -- How many plan sections have AI-drafted content (out of 7)
- A progress bar showing the ratio of AI-assisted answers to manual answers
AI-Suggested Answers
Throughout the questionnaire, the AI may suggest answers for individual questions. These suggestions appear below the question input as a highlighted badge showing:
- The suggested value
- A confidence score
- The reasoning behind the suggestion (when available)
- The data sources used (e.g., "Chemical Inventory," "Company Profile")
You have two options:
- Accept -- The suggestion fills in the answer field. You can still edit it afterward. The answer is tagged with an "AI-assisted" badge.
- Dismiss -- The suggestion disappears. Enter your own answer manually.
Suggestions appear when a question has no answer yet, when you selected "Not sure," or when the AI review identifies an improvement opportunity.
AI Plan Review (Pro)
On Pro plans, you can request an AI review of your completed plan. The review analyzes your plan content and questionnaire answers against OSHA requirements and best practices.
Finding Severity Levels

Where Findings Appear
Findings are displayed inline, directly next to the relevant question or section in the questionnaire view:
- Question-level findings appear below the specific question they relate to
- Section-level findings appear at the top of the section
Each finding includes the severity level, the OSHA reference (when applicable), the finding message, and a suggested fix.
Tips for Getting the Best AI Results
- Complete your ChemIQ inventory first. The more chemical data the AI has, the more specific and accurate the generated content will be.
- Upload SDSs before creating your plan. SDS data provides hazard details, handling procedures, and PPE requirements that the AI incorporates into your plan.
- Answer questionnaire questions before generating. The AI uses your answers as context. More answers produce better content.
- Review and customize AI content. The AI produces strong starting material, but you know your workplace best. Always review and adjust to match your actual procedures.
- Use regeneration strategically. If you update your questionnaire answers after generating, regenerate the affected sections to incorporate the new information.
