Plan Editor
After you complete the questionnaire and generate your plan content, the Plan Editor lets you review, customize, and finalize every section of your Written HazCom Program. The split-view layout shows your editable content alongside a live preview, so you always know exactly what the finished document will look like.
For: Coordinator, Admin | Tier: Standard+
Split-View Layout
The editor is divided into two panels:
| Panel | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Left panel | Section tabs and a markdown text editor where you make changes to your plan content |
| Right panel | A live-rendered preview of the document that updates as you type |
The section tabs along the left let you navigate between the 7 OSHA sections. Click any tab to jump directly to that section's content.
Editing Your Plan
The generated plan content is written in markdown format. You can:
- Edit text directly -- Change wording, add company-specific details, or rewrite entire paragraphs
- Add or remove content -- Insert new paragraphs, bullet lists, or headings as needed
- Format with markdown -- Use headings, bold, lists, and tables to organize your content
- Auto-save -- Changes are saved automatically as you work, so you will never lose your edits
The content the Plan Builder generates is yours to modify. Whether it came from templates (Basic plan) or AI (Premium plan), you should always review and customize it to accurately describe your actual procedures.
Section Navigation
Each of the 7 OSHA sections appears as a tab in the editor:
- Company & Site Information
- Chemical Inventory
- Container Labeling
- Safety Data Sheets
- Employee Training
- Non-Routine Tasks
- Contractor Coordination
Click a tab to load that section's content in the editor. The preview panel updates to show the rendered version of the section you are editing.
Questionnaire and Editor Together
The editor works alongside the questionnaire. When you are on a section, you can toggle between:
- Questionnaire view -- See and update your answers for that section
- Content view -- See and edit the generated plan text for that section
This means you can adjust an answer in the questionnaire and then regenerate the content for that section, or you can edit the generated content directly without changing your questionnaire answers.
Document Preview
The right-side preview panel renders your plan content as it will appear in the final document. This includes:
- Formatted headings and subheadings
- Bulleted and numbered lists
- Tables
- Bold and emphasized text
- Section breaks
The preview updates in real time as you type, so there is no need to save and refresh to see your changes.
Readiness for Submission
Before you can submit your plan for approval, the editor checks that your plan is ready:
- All 7 sections have generated content
- All required questionnaire answers have been provided
- The Program Coordinator is identified
- The plan has a name and effective date
If anything is incomplete, the system highlights what needs attention before you can proceed to the approval step.
Working with AI Content (Standard and Pro)
On AI-Powered plans, the editor includes additional tools:
- AI Generation Panel -- Regenerate content for individual sections or the entire plan. Each generation includes a confidence score.
- AI Review Panel -- Request an AI review of your plan for completeness and compliance. The review produces findings at three severity levels: Critical, Warning, and Suggestion. Findings appear inline next to the relevant questions or sections.
- AI Suggestion Badges -- Inline suggestions that appear when the AI detects an opportunity to improve an answer or section.
See AI-Powered Plan Generation for details on these features.
Tips for Editing
- Start with a review pass. Read through the generated content for each section before making edits. The generator produces solid starting material, but your specific procedures may need adjustments.
- Be concrete. Replace generic phrases like "appropriate training" with specifics like "annual in-person HazCom training with written quiz."
- Check the preview. Make sure your formatting looks right in the preview panel, especially tables and lists.
- Save before submitting. While auto-save handles most situations, click
Saveexplicitly before submitting for approval to ensure all changes are captured.
