Bulk Import

Module: ChemIQ

Bulk Import is the ingestion hub for getting many chemicals into Tellus at once. Whether you're onboarding a whole facility, copying a proven inventory to a new site, or loading a stack of Safety Data Sheets, Bulk Import gives you a single place to bring large batches in — and nothing is added to your live inventory until you've reviewed it.

You'll find it under ChemIQ > Add > Bulk Import.

The Review Queue: Nothing Lands Blindly

Every import lane feeds the same safety net: the Review Queue. Imported items wait there for you to review — confirm details, resolve matches, and fix any gaps — before they're committed to your inventory. This keeps bad data out of your live chemical list and gives you a chance to catch duplicates or missing SDS coverage.

A Review Queue shortcut sits at the top of the Bulk Import screen so you can jump straight to items waiting for review.

Import Lanes

Bulk Import offers several lanes, each suited to a different source of chemical data:

LaneWhat You ProvideWhat You GetStatus
SpreadsheetAn Excel or CSV inventory listRows staged into the Review Queue for confirmationComing soon
SDS BatchMany SDS PDFs (or a ZIP of them)Parsed SDS documents you can stock into inventoryAvailable
Copy from SiteA source site to copy fromThat site's inventory replicated to your current siteAvailable
InvoiceA purchase invoiceLine items extracted into staged inventoryComing soon
ERP SyncA connection to your ERP systemInventory pulled directly from your ERPComing soon

Lanes marked Coming soon appear on the screen but aren't yet selectable.

Spreadsheet

Import an existing inventory list from Excel or CSV. This is the natural choice when you already track chemicals in a spreadsheet and want to bring that list into Tellus in one pass.

SDS Batch

Upload a large set of SDS PDFs — or a single ZIP archive containing many — and stock them into inventory. Selecting this lane takes you to the SDS Library's dedicated Bulk Upload SDS Documents page, where the documents are parsed and prepared. This is the fastest way to build coverage when you have a folder full of manufacturer SDS files.

Copy from Site

Copy an existing inventory from one site to another. If you've already built out a well-organized inventory at one facility, this lane replicates it to your current site so you don't have to start from scratch. This shares the copy-from-site flow used by Quick Entry.

Invoice

Extract chemical line items directly from a purchase invoice, turning a procurement document into staged inventory entries. Coming soon.

ERP Sync

Pull inventory data directly from your ERP system so Tellus stays aligned with your purchasing and materials records. Coming soon.

How to Use It

  1. Go to ChemIQ > Add > Bulk Import.
  2. Choose the lane that matches your source — spreadsheet, SDS batch, another site, and so on.
  3. Provide the input for that lane (upload the file, pick the source site, etc.).
  4. Open the Review Queue to confirm the staged items, resolve any matches, and fill gaps.
  5. Promote the reviewed items to add them to your live inventory.

Bulk Import vs. Quick Entry vs. Bulk Upload SDS

Tellus has a few ways to add chemicals, and it helps to know which is which:

ToolBest For
Bulk Import (this page)Bringing many chemicals at once from a file, another site, or a system — reviewed before commit
Quick Entry / Quick ImportFast, on-the-floor capture using your phone camera and barcode scanning
Bulk Upload SDS DocumentsLoading a batch of SDS PDFs into your SDS Library (also reachable from the SDS Batch lane here)

Use Bulk Import for big, structured loads; use Quick Entry for capturing chemicals as you walk the floor; and use Bulk Upload SDS Documents when your priority is building SDS coverage.

Who Uses This

RoleWhat You Can Do
AdminUse every available lane; manage the Review Queue across all sites
ManagerImport chemicals and review staged items at managed sites
Program CoordinatorImport and review inventory as part of program setup and compliance
