ChemIQ Insights

Module: ChemIQ | Tier: Standard and Pro

ChemIQ Insights gives you a data-driven view of your chemical inventory health. Instead of manually auditing your inventory for gaps, Insights surfaces the metrics that matter most — SDS coverage, hazard distribution, compliance status, and inventory trends — all in one dashboard.

Key Features

Inventory Health

Get a clear picture of how complete and current your inventory data is:

  • Total products — How many chemical products are tracked across your organization
  • Total inventory items — Individual chemical records across all sites and locations
  • Active vs. inactive — How many chemicals are currently active versus deactivated
  • Missing data flags — Inventory items that are missing key information (no SDS, no CAS number, no quantity)

SDS Coverage Status

One of the most important compliance metrics: what percentage of your chemicals have a current Safety Data Sheet attached?

  • Coverage percentage — The number of inventory items with an SDS versus total items
  • Missing SDS list — Quickly see which chemicals need an SDS uploaded
  • Expired SDS alerts — SDSs that have not been updated in more than 3 years may need to be refreshed

Under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1200(g), you must maintain an SDS for every hazardous chemical in the workplace. SDS coverage is one of the first things an inspector will check.

Hazard Distribution

Understand the overall hazard profile of your inventory:

  • Hazard category breakdown — How many of your chemicals are flammable, corrosive, toxic, oxidizing, etc.
  • GHS pictogram distribution — Visual count of each pictogram type across your inventory
  • Hazard concentration by site — Which sites have the highest concentration of hazardous chemicals
  • Most common hazard types — The top hazard categories your workforce encounters

This data helps you prioritize training, PPE purchasing, and engineering controls for the hazards your people actually face.

Trend Analysis

Track how your inventory changes over time:

  • Inventory growth — Are you adding more chemicals or reducing your footprint?
  • SDS coverage trend — Is your coverage improving or slipping?
  • Compliance score trend — How your overall compliance posture has changed month over month
  • New chemicals added — Recently added products that may need attention (SDS upload, training, PPE assessment)

Trend data is especially valuable before audits and inspections — it shows a pattern of continuous improvement.
