Add Sites and Locations

For: Admin | Tier: All plans

Your site structure is the backbone of your Tellus account. Chemicals, training, plans, and compliance metrics are all organized by site. Set this up before you start adding chemicals and your inventory will be organized from the start.

Add a Site​

  1. Navigate to AdminHQ from the main menu
  2. Click Sites in the sidebar
  3. Click Add Site
  4. Fill in the site details:
    • Site name — A recognizable name (e.g., "Main Warehouse," "Downtown Lab")
    • Address — Street, city, state, ZIP
    • Site type — Select the category that best describes this facility
    • Contact person — The person responsible for this site (optional)
    • Phone number — Site-specific contact number (optional)
  5. Click Save

Your new site appears in the Sites list and is immediately available in site selectors throughout the platform.

Add Locations Within a Site​

Locations are specific areas inside a site — rooms, cabinets, shelves, or any place where chemicals are stored.

  1. From the Sites list, click on the site you want to add locations to
  2. Click Manage Locations
  3. Click Add Location
  4. Enter the location details:
    • Name — A descriptive name (e.g., "Flammable Cabinet A," "Lab 201 Shelf 3," "Warehouse Aisle 5")
    • Type — Select from: Building, Floor, Room, or Storage Area
  5. Click Save
  6. Repeat for each location where chemicals are stored or used

Tips​

  • Set up sites and locations before adding chemicals. When you import chemicals, you'll assign each one to a site and location. Having the structure ready means you can do this in one pass.
  • Be specific with location names. "Storage Room" is fine if you only have one, but "Building A — Storage Room 3" is better if you have multiple.
  • Don't over-engineer it. You can always add more locations later. Start with the places where chemicals actually live today.
  • Match your walk-through route. Name locations in the order you'd encounter them doing a physical inventory walk — it makes reconciliation easier.
