Create a Training Course
For: Trainer, Admin | Tier: Standard and Pro
This guide walks you through creating a new training course in SafePath — whether it is a chemical safety training refresher, a site-specific orientation, or any other safety topic. After completing these steps, you will have a draft course ready for content.
Steps
- Go to SafePath in the main navigation
- Click Courses to open your course library
- Click
New Coursein the top-right corner - Enter a course title — use something employees will recognize (e.g., "HazCom 2026 Annual Refresher" or "Warehouse Chemical Safety")
- Add a description explaining what the course covers and why it matters
- Select a category from the dropdown — choose from pre-built categories like HazCom, Fall Protection, LOTO, or any custom categories you have created
- Click
Save
Your course is created as a Draft and you are taken to the course editor, where you can start adding lessons and quizzes.
What Happens Next
A draft course is not visible to employees and cannot be assigned. You need to:
- Add lessons and quizzes — see Add Lessons and Quizzes to a Course
- Preview the course to make sure the content flows well
- Publish the course when you are ready for employees to take it
Tips
- Start with a clear title. Employees see the course title on their My Training page. "Q1 2026 HazCom Refresher — Downtown Warehouse" is better than "Training Course 47."
- Choose the right category. Categories help you organize your library and make it easy to filter courses later. If none of the pre-built categories fit, create a custom one.
- Draft first, publish later. There is no rush to publish. Take time to build and review your content before making it available to employees.
