Add Lessons and Quizzes to a Course

For: Trainer | Tier: Standard and Pro

This guide walks you through adding content to a course you have already created. You will learn how to add different lesson types and build quizzes to verify comprehension.

Adding Lessons

  1. Open your course in the course editor (go to SafePath then Courses, then click on your course)
  2. Click Add Lesson
  3. Choose a lesson type:
    • Text — Write lesson content directly in the editor. Good for safety policies, procedures, and chemical hazard summaries.
    • Video — Upload a training video or link to an external video. Good for demonstrating proper procedures and PPE use.
    • PDF/Slides — Attach a PDF document or slide presentation. Good for existing training materials and manufacturer safety guides.
  4. Add your content — enter text, upload your file, or paste your video link
  5. Give the lesson a title that describes what it covers
  6. Click Save
  7. Repeat for each lesson you want to add

Lessons appear in the order you create them. You can drag and drop to reorder them at any time.

Adding a Quiz

  1. In the course editor, click Add Quiz
  2. Add your first question:
    • Multiple choice — Write the question, add answer options, and mark the correct answer
    • True/false — Write a statement and indicate whether it is true or false
  3. Add more questions by clicking Add Question
  4. Set the passing score — the minimum percentage employees must achieve to pass (default is 80%)
  5. Click Save

You can place quizzes after specific lessons or at the end of the course as a final assessment.

Before You Publish

  • Click Preview to experience the course as an employee would see it
  • Check that lessons flow in a logical order
  • Verify quiz questions are clear and answer options are unambiguous
  • Confirm the passing score is appropriate for your content

When you are satisfied, click Publish to make the course available for assignment.

Tips

  • Keep lessons focused. Each lesson should cover one topic. It is better to have five short lessons than one long one.
  • Use quizzes strategically. Place quiz questions that directly relate to the lesson content — this reinforces learning and helps you verify comprehension.
  • Set a realistic passing score. 80% is a common standard for safety training. You can adjust higher for critical topics or lower for introductory material.
