Assign Training to Employees

For: Trainer, Manager, Admin | Tier: Standard and Pro

This guide walks you through assigning a training course to employees — from chemical safety training to general safety orientation. After completing these steps, targeted employees will be notified and see the course on their My Training page.

Steps

  1. Go to SafePath in the main navigation
  2. Click Assignments
  3. Click New Assignment
  4. Select course(s) — Choose one or more published courses from your library. Only published courses appear in the list.
  5. Choose who to assign:
    • Individual employees — Search and select specific people by name
    • Entire site — Select a site to assign to everyone working there
    • Specific role — Select a job role to assign to everyone with that role
  6. Set a due date — Choose when employees need to complete the training
  7. Add an optional message — Include a note explaining why this training is being assigned (e.g., "Annual HazCom refresher required by OSHA")
  8. Click Create Assignment

Employees receive a notification immediately. The course appears on their My Training page with the due date you set.

Assigning to Multiple Groups

You can combine targeting options in a single assignment. For example, assign a course to all employees at Site A and all employees with the Forklift Operator role across your organization. SafePath handles any overlaps automatically — no employee receives a duplicate assignment.

Tips

  • Set realistic due dates. Give employees enough time to complete the training without rushing, but not so long that it gets forgotten. Seven to fourteen days is a common window for most safety courses.
  • Use the optional message. A brief explanation like "New OSHA requirements effective January 2026" helps employees understand why the training matters.
  • Check the Assignments page after creating. Verify that the right number of employees were targeted and that statuses show as Assigned.
