Generate a HazCom Training Course with AI

For: Trainer, Admin | Tier: Pro

This guide walks you through using the AI Course Generator to create a training course from your published HazCom plan. The AI pulls content from your plan and your site's chemical inventory to build lessons and quizzes tailored to your workplace.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A published HazCom plan in the Plan Builder module (draft plans are not available for generation)
  • A chemical inventory in ChemIQ for the site you want to cover
  • A Pro tier subscription

Steps

  1. Go to SafePath in the main navigation
  2. Click Courses
  3. Click Generate from HazCom Plan
  4. Select your published HazCom plan from the dropdown
  5. Select the site you want the course to cover — the AI uses this site's chemical inventory to generate chemical-specific content
  6. Click Generate
  7. Wait for the AI to create the course — this typically takes a minute or two
  8. Review each lesson — Read through the generated content, checking for accuracy and completeness
  9. Review quiz questions — Make sure questions are clear and answers are correct
  10. Customize as needed — Edit text, add supplemental materials (videos, PDFs), adjust quiz passing scores, or reorder lessons
  11. When satisfied, click Publish to make the course available for assignment

What Gets Generated

The AI creates course content based on your actual data:

  • Chemical hazard overview drawn from your site's ChemIQ inventory and GHS classifications
  • Label reading instructions based on your HazCom plan's labeling procedures
  • SDS interpretation guidance based on your plan's SDS access procedures
  • PPE requirements from SDS Section 8 data for chemicals at your site
  • Emergency procedures from your HazCom plan's emergency and first aid sections
  • Quiz questions testing comprehension of all key topics

Tips

  • AI-generated courses include chemical-specific content from your actual inventory. This makes them far more relevant than generic HazCom training.
  • Always review before publishing. The AI produces strong starting material, but you know your workplace best. Add details about your specific procedures, equipment, or facility layout.
  • Regenerate if your inventory changes significantly. If you add many new chemicals to a site, consider generating a new course to capture the updated information.
  • Save time, not quality. The goal is to eliminate the blank-page problem — not to skip the review process.
