Brand Your Public SDS Portal

For: Admin | Tier: Standard+

The Public SDS Portal is your branded, customer-facing SDS catalog at sds.tellusehs.com/{your-slug}. Branding it makes the page look like yours — not a generic Tellus page — and shows visitors they're in the right place.

Different from company-wide branding. Configure Company Branding sets the logo + colors on PDF reports, chemical labels, and certificates. This page sets the branding on your public, customer-facing SDS portal. They're separate fields, separate panels, separate audiences.

Steps

  1. Navigate to ChemIQPublic SDS Portal from the main menu
  2. In the Portal Branding panel, fill in any of the four fields:
    • Logo URL — Paste an HTTPS URL to a public image of your logo. A live preview appears below the input.
    • Primary color — Use the color picker or paste a hex code (e.g. #0F172A). The catalog header background and per-product card accent borders use this color.
    • Contact info — Free text rendered in your portal footer. Email, phone, mailing address — whatever you want visitors to see.
    • Safety Summary disclaimer (override) — Leave blank to use the Tellus default. Custom text replaces it on every per-product page.
  3. Watch the live WCAG contrast feedback under the color picker. Pass = green checkmark. Fail = red warning with the actual ratio. You cannot save a color that fails WCAG AA (3:1 minimum for UI components).
  4. Click Save changes

Why the contrast check matters

The primary color is applied to UI elements visitors interact with: the header bar, buttons, card borders. If the color doesn't have enough contrast against white, those elements become hard to read — which on a safety-information portal is the wrong tradeoff.

ColorContrast vs whiteResult
#000000 (black)21:1✓ Passes
#0F172A (deep navy)17.4:1✓ Passes
#8B5CF6 (violet)3.7:1✓ Passes UI threshold
#F59E0B (amber-gold)1.9:1✗ Fails — too light to read text on

If your brand color fails, the picker tells you the exact ratio so you can darken it slightly until it passes.

Tips

  • Logo should be square-ish (or simple wordmark) — The portal renders it at 48×48 px on desktop. Tall narrow logos get cropped.
  • HTTPS is required for logo URLs — A relative path or http:// link is rejected.
  • The disclaimer is for liability framing, not marketing — Workers reading the auto-generated Safety Summary need to know it's a helper, not a substitute for the full SDS PDF. The default Tellus disclaimer says exactly that. Override only if your legal team has stronger language.
  • Test on the actual portal — Once saved, click Visit in the Portal Config panel to open your live catalog in a new tab. Check the header color, logo legibility, and footer contact info before sharing the URL.

What's saved

Branding lives at the company level (not per-site), so a single change applies to:

  • Your branded catalog page at sds.tellusehs.com/{your-slug}
  • Every per-product page at sds.tellusehs.com/{your-slug}/{product-slug}
  • Every site-poster binder at sds.tellusehs.com/s/{token} (site posters inherit the company branding)

Previously printed posters are not affected by branding changes — the QR codes still resolve to the now-rebranded page, but the printed sheets themselves don't update. Reprint if you've made a visible logo or color change.
