Visiting Your Portal
Module: ChemIQ For: Admin, Manager
The fastest way to see what your customers actually see is to visit the live catalog. The Portal Config panel makes that one click.
The Visit Link
Inside the Portal Config panel at ChemIQ > Public SDS Portal, the right side of the slug display row shows a small Visit button next to your portal slug:
Slug: acme-chemicals [Visit ↗] [Edit]
Click it. The catalog opens in a new tab at:
https://sds.tellusehs.com/{your-slug}
In development and test environments, the same Visit link opens sds-dev.tellusehs.com or sds-test.tellusehs.com so you can sanity-check sandbox data without touching production.
Note: the Visit link is only shown when your portal has a claimed slug and is enabled. If you've claimed a slug but not turned the portal on, claim flow finishes with an
Enableaction — the Visit link appears once it's flipped on.
When to Use It
The Visit link is for previewing as a visitor — without logging out, without an incognito window, without anyone outside Tellus seeing the page. Three high-value moments to use it:
Right After You Set Branding
Open the Portal Branding panel, change your logo, primary color, or contact info, click Save changes, then immediately click Visit. The catalog reloads in the new tab with your live branding. If the header color looks wrong, the logo is too pixelated, or the contact info has a typo, fix it now — before you send the URL to a customer.
After Bulk-Publishing Products
When you flip a batch of products from your product catalog to Public, the catalog updates in real time. Use Visit to confirm:
- All the products you expected appear
- Each card has its pictograms and signal word
- The result count matches what you published
- Nothing is showing the
SDS missingbadge by surprise
Before Sharing the URL with a Customer
Treat the Visit click as your final pre-flight check. Look at the page exactly as your customers will — branded header, search bar, filter chips, product grid. If something looks off, you have a chance to fix it before the URL goes into a contract, email signature, or website footer.
What Opens
The Visit link opens the catalog page — the company-wide landing at sds.tellusehs.com/{your-slug}. From there you can:
- Type into the search bar to verify search works against your published products
- Click GHS pictogram filter chips to verify filters work
- Click any product card to open the per-product page with the full SDS PDF
- Scroll to the footer to verify contact info and disclaimer render correctly
The new tab is just the live public page — there's no special "preview mode," no draft state, no extra controls. What you see is what your customers see.
Grabbing the Share URL
Right-click the Visit link to copy the URL without opening a new tab — or open the tab and copy from your browser's address bar. Common places to paste it:
| Where | What it does |
|---|---|
| Website footer | Lets customers self-serve SDS without contacting you |
| Quote sheets, packing slips, invoices | Pass-through SDS compliance for distributors and manufacturers |
| Sales email signatures | Standard "here's our SDS catalog" reply |
| Contracts and master service agreements | HazCom pass-through language pointing customers at a permanent URL |
| Customer onboarding emails | "Bookmark this URL for any SDS you need" |
The URL is permanent. Renaming your slug after activation creates a permanent redirect from the old URL — but the new one becomes the canonical address, and any QR codes already printed against the old URL will continue to work.
If the Visit Link Isn't There
If you go to the Portal Config panel and don't see a Visit link, one of three things is true:
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The panel shows a slug input field instead | No slug has been claimed yet | Claim a slug — the Visit link appears once the slug is saved |
| The slug is shown but no Visit button | Portal is claimed but not enabled | Click Enable portal |
| Visit link opens a "no longer available" page | Portal is in a deactivation or suspension state | Check your subscription status; contact support if billing is current |
Permissions
| Role | Can see the Visit link | Can claim or change the slug |

Anyone with access to ChemIQ can preview the portal. Only Admins can claim, rename, or disable the slug.
