Print GHS Labels

For: Manager, Coordinator | Tier: Standard and Pro

Workplace labels are required on all secondary containers of hazardous chemicals under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1200(f). The Label Center makes it easy to generate correct, compliant labels from your ChemIQ data and print them on demand.

Prerequisites

  • You must have Manager or Program Coordinator role
  • Your plan must be Standard or Pro
  • The chemicals you want to label must have a linked SDS (label data is pulled from the parsed SDS)

Steps

  1. Navigate to ChemIQ > Label Center > Quick Print
  2. Select one or more chemicals from your inventory — use search or filters to find them
  3. Choose a label type:
    • GHS — Standard GHS secondary container label with pictograms, signal word, and hazard statements
    • NFPA — NFPA 704 fire diamond with health, flammability, instability, and special hazard ratings
    • HMIS — Hazardous Materials Identification System label with PPE codes
  4. Configure the label layout:
    • Select your label size (must match your label sheets)
    • Adjust font size if needed
    • Toggle optional fields (precautionary statements, first aid, etc.)
  5. Preview the batch — review each label to verify the data is correct
  6. Print — send the batch to your printer

Expected Result

Your labels are generated with accurate hazard data pulled directly from the parsed SDS for each chemical. The print output matches your configured label size and includes all required elements for the selected label type.

Tips

  • Use a label printer — Dedicated label printers (such as Brother or DYMO models) produce the best results. Standard desktop printers work with label sheets.
  • Verify SDS data first — Label data comes from your parsed SDS. If the SDS has not been reviewed, check the hazard classifications before printing.
  • Batch printing saves time — Select all chemicals for a shelf or cabinet and print them in one batch.
  • Save templates — If you print labels regularly with the same configuration, save it as a template for one-click reuse.
  • Print history — Every print job is logged in the Label Center, so you can demonstrate an active labeling program during inspections.
