Track Chemical Quantities by Site
For: Manager, Coordinator | Tier: Standard and Pro
Site-level quantity tracking shows you exactly how much of each chemical is on site — broken down from products to individual chemical components, with automatic threshold comparison for Tier II and fire code compliance.
Prerequisites
- You must have Manager or Program Coordinator role
- Your plan must be Standard or Pro
- Your inventory must have chemicals with quantities entered and SDSs linked (SDS composition data is needed for the breakdown)
Steps
- Navigate to ChemIQ > Site Quantities
- Select the site you want to review from the site selector
- Review the status cards at the top of the page:
- Total unique chemicals at this site
- How many are classified as hazardous
- How many exceed the Tier II reporting threshold (10,000 lbs)
- How many exceed fire code Maximum Allowable Quantities
- Browse the Chemical Summary tab to see per-chemical totals:
- Each row shows a unique CAS number with total pounds and gallons
- Look for Tier II and Fire Code indicators on each row
- Switch to the Hazard Summary tab to see quantities grouped by fire code classification:
- View the fire permit limit for each hazard class
- Check the % of Limit column to see how close you are to fire code maximums
- Click
Recalculateif you have recently updated inventory and want to refresh the aggregated totals
Expected Result
You see a complete breakdown of chemical quantities at the selected site, with clear indicators for any chemicals or hazard categories that exceed Tier II or fire code thresholds. This data can be used directly for your annual Tier II submission and fire marshal permit applications.
Tips
- Recalculate after changes — If you have added or removed inventory items, click
Recalculateto ensure the aggregations reflect your current inventory. - SDS coverage matters — Chemicals without a linked SDS cannot be broken down into components. Improve your SDS coverage to get more accurate quantity totals.
- Check before March 1 — Tier II reports are due annually by March 1. Review your site quantities in advance to identify chemicals that exceed the 10,000 lb threshold.
- Fire code limits are per control area — The Maximum Allowable Quantities shown are for a single control area. If your facility has multiple control areas, quantities may be distributed.
