Quick Import: Scan a Barcode

For: Any user with quick_import permission | Tier: Standard and Pro

Barcode scanning is the fastest import method for products with readable barcodes. Point your camera at the barcode, confirm the quantity, and move on. Tellus matches the barcode to your product catalog in the background.

Prerequisites​

  • Your account must have the quick_import permission (granted by your Admin)
  • Your plan must be Standard or Pro
  • Your device must have a camera
  • Products must have a scannable barcode (UPC, EAN, or Code 128 format)

Steps​

  1. Navigate to ChemIQ > Quick Import > Barcode
  2. Select the site where you are working
  3. Select the location within that site
  4. Point your device camera at the product barcode
  5. Wait for the barcode to be read — you will see confirmation when it is captured
  6. Enter the quantity of containers on hand
  7. Tap Submit to send to the review queue
  8. Move to the next product — the site and location stay set for your session

Expected Result​

Your submission appears in My Submissions with a "Pending Review" status. Tellus matches the barcode against your product catalog in the background. The match result will be visible to the reviewer, who will approve the item to promote it to your live inventory.

Tips​

  • Clean barcodes scan faster — Wipe dust or moisture off the barcode if you are having trouble scanning.
  • Hold steady — Keep your device still and about 6 inches from the barcode for the best read.
  • No barcode? Switch to Photo Capture for products without barcodes.
  • High volume — You can scan 50 or more items in a session. Submissions are queued and processed in the background.
